  2. First study showing improved drug levels in pediatric tumor microenvironment upon antibody-mediated nanoparticle release

    A new study describes a novel approach for understanding intratumoral distribution of tumor-targeted anticancer drugs. The work produced clinically relevant data that open new opportunities for patients with neuroblastoma.

    The work was an international collaboration between Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu (Barcelona, Spain), Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (Haifa, Israel) and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC, New York, USA). The findings appeared in the Journal of Controlled Release.

  3. New potential target found for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG)

    A new study from the University of Copenhagen (Biotech Research and Innovation Centre – BRIC -) and Sant Joan de Deu (Pediatric Hematology and Oncology) expands understanding of the genetic basis of DIPG and identifies EZH2 as possible target.

  6. “The discovery of GDF15 overexpression in patients with mitochondrial disease opened a door towards an improvement in their diagnosis”

    Dr. Ceciclia Jiménez-Mallebrera leads a translational research team focused on childhood neuromuscular diseases. Her laboratory works with the Neuromuscular Unit, Neuropaediatrics Service, at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (HSJD). They work together to improve the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases, with the goal of improving the quality of life of the affected children.

  8. Sant Joan de Deu Research Foundation launches the project Cure2DIPG awarded by ERA-NET Euronanomed II

    Scientists at the Preclinical Therapeutics and Drug Delivery Research Program at Sant Joan de Deu Research Foundation and other European institutions have been selected for funding by the European program Euronanomed II in the 2015 call. The initiative Cure2DIPG will receive funds from Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Spain), Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (Spain), ANR (France) and Chief Scientist Office-Ministry of Health (Israel).
