QuirofAM Project: am / i3D Research in the Healthcare Industry for Improving Surgical Practice
The "QuirofAM" project is part of the LLAVOR 3D Community, which includes in its strategy as a priority line of action the "Promotion of Product and Technology Innovation" in the field of Industrial Systems, and under this paradigm it determines the strategic technological areas and the challenges and opportunities that derive from them.
The aim of the "QuirofAM" project is to transform surgical practice by incorporating additive manufacturing into three levels: surgical test models, guides and implants for reconstruction, and bioactive implants for tissue generation. One of the most interesting benefits of this technology in the biomedical sector is the individualization of treatments.
During the course of this project, the conversion of scanned medical images of the human body into files suitable for building parts using Additive Manufacturing (FA), obtaining new biocompatible materials, developing more efficient production processes and versatile, new post-processes and surface treatments that provide better properties for surgical practice and technological validation of the results obtained.
